How long does it take asphalt to dry?

On a typical asphalt paving job, it takes 24 hours for fresh asphalt and 2 -3 hours for resurfaced asphalt to dry. However the time can vary depending on the weather conditions.

How long does asphalt last?

Asphalt roads typically last between 25 -30 years however this is dependent on a few variables such as usage, asphalt maintenance (or lack thereof) and climate conditions.

Is asphalt cheaper than concrete?

Generally asphalt is cheaper than concrete for supply and installation. This is because asphalt uses tar, instead of concrete as an adhesive. Price will fluctuate, depending on the on the price of crude oil.

What is asphalt made of?

Asphalt is a mixture made up of filler, aggregates and binder. Aggregates usually contain a mix of processed mineral materials including crushed rock, sand, gravel, slags, tyres and other various recycled materials and the binder is used to create a cohesive mixture.

Is asphalt a sustainable option?

Asphalt is becoming more and more influential with regards to sustainability due to the ability of recycling. Old roads are being recycled to make new roads and more asphalt is recycled for this purpose each year.
