Through education, training & adherence to the National Heavy Vehicle Law & other transport legislation, we should aim to improve the safety of the heavy vehicle transport industry.
Mass & Dimensions
Adherence to the Heavy Vehicle Mass, Dimensions & Loading requirements under the Heavy Vehicle National Law.
Load Restraint
The risks that unrestrained loads present to other road users are well known. Heavy vehicle operators & loaders must ensure that persons who load heavy vehicles are properly trained & equipped to secure loads.
Driver Fatigue
Driver fatigue, defined as driving while feeling sleeping, physically or mentally tired, or lacking energy, is a major heavy vehicle safety hazard. Ensuring drivers are well rested, fit to drive & provided adequate time for scheduled breaks is key in ensuring drivers are not operating heavy vehicles whilst impaired by fatigue.
Everyone who works with heavy vehicles – from the business that employs a driver or owns a HV, to the business that sends / receives goods, is accountable for the safety of the HV, its driver & its load throughout its journey.
